Ceremony Music Ideas

One of the biggest struggles of planning a wedding that some couples find is having to pick all the music that is played throughout the day, including the wedding ceremony music. Being DJs, we are always asked what our favorites are when a couple is simply tired of decision making. We keep an ongoing database of some of our favorites and we decided to share these ceremony music ideas with you!

Instrumentals or covers of popular songs are one way to inject your personality in your wedding day. These ceremony music ideas are instrumental/acoustic songs that can be used during your ceremony or for background music during dinner. Covers can be done on a piano, violin/strings, or even an acoustic guitar. An example is this violin cover of Bruno Mars “Marry Me” found on YouTube:

We also have a few other favorites, including this violin cover by the same artist of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”:

He has others that would work perfectly for any ceremony..

Check out a few other artists like The Piano Guys, Vitamin String Quartet, and Boyce Avenue.

You can also choose to hire a string quartet to play your music during the ceremony or for cocktail hour if you would prefer live music over a DJ playing tracks. Most string quartets already have covers worked into their overall playlist to make it easy for you and the song selection process.

Hopefully this helps make your music decision easier as you plan the details of the best day ever!

Father Daughter Song | Dustin Lynch – Your Daddy’s Boots

New music Tuesdays has always been a favorite of ours — So many decisions involved in planning a fabulous wedding, so by the time it comes to picking reception music, our brides are typically on decision overload. We are always on the lookout for brand new songs that would fit a wedding day perfectly.. and today we got lucky! Dustin Lynch just released a new song that would be the perfect fit for your Father Daughter dance. Watch out.. If you are a Daddy’s girl, this one might just make you tear up…

Girl you look so pretty in your wedding day white
Dancing with another man but that’s alright
The way he’s spinning you around has stopped the whole room
I’m gonna have a hell of a time trying to fill your daddy’s boots

He’s got a heart of gold, right hand like a vice
Same man on Sunday morning as Saturday night
Barbed wire tough and cowboy cool
I’m gonna have a hell of a time trying to fill your daddy’s boots

He was the first to hold your hand, first to dry your tears
We had a man to man and now I’m taking it from here
I made him a promise, girl I promise you
I’ll always do the best that I can do
I’m gonna have a hell of a time trying to fill your daddy’s boots

They say there’s things about him that you see in me
He’s the kind of man I want to be
Got to give the man credit where credit is due
I’m gonna have a hell of a time trying to fill your daddy’s boots

He was the first to hold your hand, first to dry your tears
We had a man to man and now I’m taking it from here
I made him a promise, girl I promise you
I’ll always do the best that I can do
I’m gonna have a hell of a time trying to fill your daddy’s boots

Processional: A Thousand Years

For most of our brides and grooms they don’t mind dancing their first dance to a song with words but during the ceremony they like to stick with traditional stings and instrumentals. Now most of you may have heard the song by Christina Perri titled “A Thousand Years” but did you know there is a amazing instrumental version?! We heard it just the other day and thought that it could be perfect for the entrance of a bridal party and the beautiful bride.

We added the instrumental version below, so check it out!

Mother/Son Dance Idea: “Never Alone”

It seems while our employees are sitting down with our amazing couples that they are able to have all the details hammered out concerning their big day…. except for the Mother & Son dance. This song choice seems to stump a few couples because they just can’t find the “perfect” song. We can guarantee that this moment will be extremely important and emotional for the Mother of the groom and she will be thankful that you thought of her on your special day.

This song “Never Alone” by Lady Antebelum and Jim Brickman is just perfect for a mother wishing her son her best wishes on this amazing day.

The song begins with a message that could be from the heart of a mother to her child.

-May the angels protect you, trouble neglect you and heave accept you when it’s time to go home. May you always have plenty, your glass never empty. Know in your belly, you’re never alone.-

Then song then continues to reassure that even in bad times that you will never actually be alone.

-I’m not gonna promise that cold winds won’t blow. So, when hard times have found you and your fear surround you. Wrap my love around you. You’re never alone.-

Check out the video for yourself and see if this possibly could be perfect for your Mother/Son Dance.

First Dance – Colbie Caillat & Jason Mraz “Lucky”

I’m lucky I’m in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

They don’t know how long it takes
Waiting for a love like this
Every time we say goodbye
I wish we had done more kiss
I’ll wait for you I promise you, I will

Father Daughter Song – Bruce Springsteen “When You Need Me”

So, you’re over the sappy love songs and your father is much more of a rock n roll type of guy.  That’s perfect, because we’ve found the cutest song by by Bruce Springsteen that could be the perfect match for any rock and roll Dad and of course, his beautiful daughter. It’s a great song to let your Dad know that even though you have a new man in your life, it won’t change that fact that you still need your Dad everyday.

When you need me call my name
‘Cause without you my life just wouldn’t be the same
If you want me come sunny skies or rain
When you need me just call my name

If you miss me, I’ll be there
To brush the sunlight from your hair
I’ll be there to guide you when trouble walks beside you
If you need me I’ll be there
And when this dirty world has been cold to you
I got two strong arms waitin’ to hold you
And when those mean days come along
We’ll stand together and we’ll take ’em on
So if you need me just call my name

When you need me call my name
‘Cause without you my life just isn’t the same
‘Cause when this world kicked me around
You picked me up off the ground
So if you need me I’ll be there

First Dance – Train “Marry Me”

Could the words be anymore perfect for the upcoming big day? Now the story told in the song might not be exactly how you and your love met but the feeling of your intense love has to be very similar! A song that speaks of eternal love, forever and always. These lyrics could be just exactly what you would like to express to your loved one on your wedding day. Music video is below!

Forever can never be long enough for me
Feel like I’ve had long enough with you
Forget the world now we won’t let them see
But there’s one thing left to do

Now that the weight has lifted
Love has surely shifted my way
Marry me
Today and everyday

–OR–

Promise Me
You’ll always be
Happy by my side
I promise to
Sing to you
When all the music dies

And marry me
Today and everyday
Marry me

Mother Son Dance – DJ Keo “All To You”

Struggling for a Mother/Son song?  You’re not alone.  We’ve found one.. and it comes with a bonus.  Be one of the first to use it!  It has yet to go mainstream, and the quality of the video isn’t spectacular, but you’ll at least be able to hear it!

Can I have this dance with you one more time

Before I start down the road of my brand new life

There’s no way to thank you, for all that you have done

No matter how old I get I will always be your son.

Riding trikes and my dirt bikes, and crashing in the sand.

I probably scared you half to death, “Hey mom look no hands”.

You were my best friend, you were my number one fan.

Every time that I got hurt, you were there to hold my hand.

(Chorus One): I may not call you as much as I should.

I may not say I love you as much as I could.

But you’ve got to know this one thing is true.

The person I’ve become and all I am I owe it all to you. I owe it all to you.

All to you.
