Behind The Scenes: Fashion Photo Shoot, Destin, FL

After taking a trip to Destin, FL to shoot the beautiful beach wedding of Jason and Lindsay, we got the opportunity to work side by side with Brittnay Therese Photography – amazing as always! She set up a few male fashion shoots in various locations, working with lighting and posing. It was a little out of our element, but we had such an amazing time! Here are some teaser photos first.. Trash The Dress Photo Shoot

I honestly can’t believe it’s taken me this long to blog about this – I have wanted to do a Trash the Dress shoot since the very first time I was introduced to the trend five years ago. If you aren’t familiar, let me explain: Trash the Dress is when brides are photographed post wedding in their white dress in unusual locations. It doesn’t always mean the dress has to be destroyed (although that certainly happens in some cases), it’s more or less another opportunity to wear a dress and get as creative as possible with it. I had researched, planned, scouted, ALL things necessary to decide where/how I wanted to trash it, all while wondering “Do I really have to wait until I get married to do it?”. I decided absolutely NOT! I went out, purchased a wedding dress off the rack, teamed up with Brittnay Therese Photography and FINALLY pulled it off. It was SUCH a thrill, and I was more than ecstatic when I saw the images. Words can’t describe how in love with it I am (yes, there are a few very large canvas prints of these in my office:) so I will just let the photos do the work! I would LOVE to find more brides interested in this sort of thing, so if that’s you, we should definitely chat!








POSH: A Female Filmmakers Retreat in Mexico

Viva la Mexico! Talk about perfect timing – after booking and shooting a destination wedding in Cancun, we hopped resorts (only 20 min apart, how awesome!) the following day to check in to the Beach Palace Resort to begin our four days of POSH: An all female Filmmakers retreat. The concept is amazing, women Filmmakers teaching each other on all aspects of the industry. We learned about marketing, pricing, equipment, and even had a hands on workshop where we shot alongside each other. While I’m a huge supporter of continuing education in any industry, the networking and friendships we formed with each other was my greatest takeaway. Our relationships with these amazing shooters is yet another way we try to stay on top of our industry for our brides! Check out a few photos from the retreat!

Wedding MBA

And we’re BACK! From Las Vegas, that is, and we are FULL of new ideas and modern trends from the wedding industry as a whole. We flew out there to attend the Wedding MBA (Merchant Business Academy) which is exactly what it sounds like – seminars and education on the wedding industry for wedding professionals! It is our goal at A Sound Impression to keep on top of the latest trends in technology, marketing, social media, and of course.. the ever changing awesomeness of weddings as a whole. We hard Kathy Ireland speak, learned that blogging is the number way to increase SEO for any company, and absolutely fell in love with Sasha Souza and her take on planning events for fabulous clients. So.. here are a few photos from our adventures in Vegas!

I had to share with you this adorable mini cake, created by the fabulous Jean Philippe. A bakery in the hotel/casino Aria features his cakes, and if you haven’t heard of this guy.. his cakes are definitely worth a look!

It’s still okay to fulfill your new years resolutions halfway through the year, right? I hope so, because I have had this on my “To Do” list for 4 full months already, and we’ve finally rolled it out!  The one blog will still be active while this one rolls out, and we’ve got lots of new ideas and things to chat about on here, so stay tuned!
