A Little Southern Tradition

Rain, rain go away, come again another day! We can guarantee that the thought of rain on her big day has crossed just about every bride’s mind at one time or another. Well worry no more, we have found an old southern tradition that might be just want you need for your Wedding Day. Southern folklore says that if you bury a bottle of bourbon at the site where the bride and groom are to be married, then it won’t rain on their wedding day. This must be done exactly one month before the wedding, the bottle must be completely full and it must be buried upside down. Are you willing to try out the tradition to be sure the rain clouds stay away?

It might be worth a shot if you are getting married in Nebraska, we all know how the weather can be around here!

Wedding Favors!

So your guests have traveled from all over the nation and maybe even from another country. Other than thanking your guests from the head table after toasts or sending out thank you cards after the fact, we thought it might be fun give them a little “thank you” favor for them to take back home. We’ve found a couple of ideas that we thought were adorable!!

Well we don’t know if we are alone here but we LOVE our sunglasses at A Sound Impression! So these would be a perfect gift for us to provide for our guests, especially if the Nebraska Summer sun is beating down on everyone!

These cute little tins can be filled with just about any type of candy, mint or even some chocolate covered coffee beans! YUM! And some websites will even let you personalize these mini-tins.

How stinking cute are these little candles?! Wouldn’t it be so much fun if you could even get the candles to match your actual wedding cake?

Nebraska Wedding Day Magazine rocks! They asked us to work side by side with Sarah Pfeiffer Photography on a photo shoot for their new magazine.. Here’s a behind the scenes look at what went down. Check it out!

BigOmaha Conference

This one is off the wedding topic, but we wanted to share with you our awesome experience with BigOmaha we had in mid May. BigOmaha is a conference where influential entrepreneurs such as the co-founder of Square Credit Card App, the creator of FUCK Cancer and many others come to Omaha to speak about their experiences: how they’ve gotten this far, mistakes they’ve made, things they’ve learned. It’s a chance for entrepreneurial spirited individuals to gather and network across industries with the common theme of design/creations/putting ideas in motion. It’s limited to around 650 tickets, and all were sold out 5 minutes after opening them to the public. We loved every second of spending the day with a room full of brilliant people and would encourage you consider to going next year! If you can’t make it, all seminars were streamed live on their website for you to follow along in your office. Below are a few photos from the conference.. enjoy!

New Spin on Old Traditions

So many brides today are trying their best to make their special day extremely unique which we can’t blame them. However, there are some brides that refuse to budge on the traditional favorites. Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue for example, maybe these brides are so superstitious that they don’t want to jinx themselves with not including this old tradition or maybe they just simply love it.

A New Spin on Some Old Ideas

Something Old: Get rid of that “old” handkerchief that you have (you don’t know where that thing has been!) And find something creative, like the veil that your grandmother wore at her wedding. It would be awesome if you could manage to find an antique or heirloom pair of earrings that accent your dress beautifully.

Something New: This being the item that seems to be the easiest to locate, it could be something as simple as your NEW elegant wedding dress. Another great idea could be adding a brilliant new tiara; after all you are the princess! J

Something Borrowed: This category seems to go hand in hand with the something old. It is trending these days to wear the wedding dress that your mother or grandmother wore on their special day but if that isn’t a possibility here are a few ideas. Getting family and friends involved is just that easy; they will be more than willing to help out. A great idea would be to borrow that awesome little purse that your friend had at her wedding. Every good bride will have a handy dandy little emergency purse with her on that special day!

Something Blue: Rather than that blue garter that you found, try having your bridesmaids sign the bottom of your wedding heels with blue permanent marker. Or even stitching your wedding date into your dress with blue thread! Just recently we came across a photo from Elwood Photography of a bride that bedazzled her shoes with blue gems spelling out “I DO”, how fun is that?!

Images You Can’t Live Without!

With so much going on during your wedding day there are some moments that you might possibly forget if you didn’t have someone capturing those small details that you worked so hard to include. Everyone knows how important the videos and images are of the Wedding Day but there are some which stand out and somehow manage to take our breath away! Working time and time again with Sarah Pfeiffer Photography, she has been generous enough to let us show off some of her incredible work to give some examples of images that you don’t want to go without! Thanks Sarah!

Almost all items at a wedding are to be shared between the bride and the groom. However there are a few things that are strictly just for the bride: the wedding dress, her bouquet and her engagement ring this image captures the “bride only” items.

Another great image that is always fun to share with family and friends is the group image. Your wedding party has been carefully picked and capturing a photo with all of them helps give the thanks for sharing your special day with them.

One thing that we love about weddings is that everyone is a little bit different. We absolutely love when someone chooses to do something extremely unique to the bride and groom. Capturing those quirky things that you just had to have in your wedding, makes for great images and reminds you that you are not like everyone else! Angry Birds Cake Pops anyone?

YWCA Shaking Things Up Martini Party, 3.8.12

We love giving back to the community whenever we can, and one of our favorite organizations to work with is the YWCA of Lincoln. We donated our DJ services to help with announcements and to play some rockin’ music. Each year they host a Martini Party called “Shakin’ Things Up” as a fundraiser and this year’s event was in the Apothecary Building in the Ridenour Room. Local bars from Lincoln set up shop inside the room and each has a specialty martini that they make, each competing for the best in the room. Attendees receive a tasting of all six martinis and are then asked to vote on their favorite. It’s such a blast, and if you haven’t been, go follow YWCA of Lincoln on Facebook so you can keep up on when the next event will be!

Photo Booth!

If you’ve been to a few weddings recently, you’ve noticed that photo booths are an ever popular trend. We LOVE the use of balloons as props in this photo, found on Wedding Wire. Photo Courtesy goes to Mike Arick Photography – Adorable!
