Behind the Scenes | NWD

Nebraska Wedding Day Magazine rocks! They asked us to work side by side with Sarah Pfeiffer Photography on a photo shoot for their new magazine.. Here’s a behind the scenes look at what went down. Check it out!

Brides Say It Best!

This review hits home with any bride on the fence about booking videography, or those that think they don’t have room for it in their budget.  We encourage you to highly reconsider, especially after hearing it first hand from past brides! (photos by the super talented Tara Lokey Photography!)

“Booking with A Sound Impression was kind of last minute and luckily she still had our wedding date available. It was by far the best money spent on our wedding!!! Now, for all you “brides to be” out there, if you are debating on if you should spend the money for a PROFESSIONAL videographer please take it from me and do it! The emotions A Sound Impression can capture in their videos are indescribable. As I watched mine, I saw so many different moments I had no idea even happened. I didn’t know my mother cried when I put on my dress or that our ring bear took off running down the aisle. You are so wrapped up in the day it is so nice to have this video to look back on to see what all happened even when you were not around. Oh and if you think, “We can just have my cousin video the ceremony.” I promise you, it isn’t at all good enough. Our wedding and reception were both outside. A Sound Impression also makes sure the sound is just as clear as your video. Even though we said our vows outside, you could hear all of us as clear as if she was standing right beside us. Every time you watch your very own video, you will relive all those emotions. I still get tears in my eyes every time I watch mine. Make cuts in your wedding budget so you can have A Sound Impression capture your wedding day. I promise you, you will NOT be disappointed. Thank you A Sound Impression! You are the best professional videographer!

BigOmaha Conference

This one is off the wedding topic, but we wanted to share with you our awesome experience with BigOmaha we had in mid May. BigOmaha is a conference where influential entrepreneurs such as the co-founder of Square Credit Card App, the creator of FUCK Cancer and many others come to Omaha to speak about their experiences: how they’ve gotten this far, mistakes they’ve made, things they’ve learned. It’s a chance for entrepreneurial spirited individuals to gather and network across industries with the common theme of design/creations/putting ideas in motion. It’s limited to around 650 tickets, and all were sold out 5 minutes after opening them to the public. We loved every second of spending the day with a room full of brilliant people and would encourage you consider to going next year! If you can’t make it, all seminars were streamed live on their website for you to follow along in your office. Below are a few photos from the conference.. enjoy!

Brides Say It Best!

We just LOVE making clients happy! Here’s what another had to say about the rockin’ party her DJ threw at the wedding!

“Our DJ from A Sound Impression was Rob and we couldn’t have been more happy with his service. He was prompt, listened and understood what we wanted for the evening and was very flexible when we would change things up here and there throughout the night!! I would highly recommend A Sound Impression as a DJ for anyone wanting to have a great time at their wedding!!!”

Brides Say It Best!

This testimonial was very emotional for us – Jim + Renee were the winners of our Free Wedding Film Giveaway last year.  Their budget was severely cut after Renee was hospitalized and video was one of the things to go. They secured more than 600 votes to win first place in our contest.   The photo shown below is courtesy of Megan Christine Photography.  Here is what she had to say upon watching her video:

“From the moment I sat in the chair to get my hair done- until the time I walked out of the reception hall..was a complete blur. The amount of people you talk to, the dancing, the smiling, your emotions while walking down the aisle, my husband seeing me for the first time, my brother telling me he how much he loves me, remembering who caught the bouquet, the words during our vows, the faces of my parents as they welcome my husband into our family, the laughing with life long friends- there is just simply no way you can remember each perfect moment. Cali and A Sound Impression presented Jim and I with an incredible opportunity: to win a free wedding video- we strategized, rallied the troops and some how managed to come out on top and take away the grand prize. Tears filled up my eyes then, again on my wedding day and once again while sitting on my couch with my husband as we watched our special day unfold before our eyes. The emotion our video captures is indescribable- the pure joy it brings to my heart does not have words that can depict its true meaning. Cali- thank you for our video, thank you for your dedication to your customers, and especially for including the unique elements that made our video the true story of the beginning of Mr. and Mrs. Jones. Jim and I will be forever grateful for the gift you have given to us.”

First Dance – Amos Lee “Sweet Pea”

We aren’t sure if you are familiar with Amos Lee but his lighthearted music speaks wonderful words on true love. We have found a song that explains how important your significant other is in your life. In the song “Sweet Pea” performed by Amos Lee he sings “You’re the Only Reason I Keep on Coming Home.” After a difficult and stressful day of work isn’t it better to come home to your “Sweet Pea” whom you know will put a big smile on your face?!

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find Amos Lee’s music video for this amazing song. However, for those of you that have to actually hear the song to appreciate it, I have included a video found on YouTube for your ear’s delight! J We hope you’ll enjoy!

The Sweet Taste Of Sweet Art Wedding Cakes

So on your beautiful wedding day what kind of cake will you have? Some brides and grooms decide on a brilliant white cake that will take everyone’s breathe away, while others  will have their own separate, unique cakes. Whatever the case may be for your cakes make sure you allow yourselves plenty of time to work with Sweet Art Wedding Cakes. We spoke with Misty the awesome owner of Sweet Art Wedding Cakes and she provided us some answers to some frequently asked questions!

Where are you located?
I have a custom order shop and conduct consultations by appointment only, located in central Lincoln.  Cakes are made fresh for each order.  There is no public store front, so no product is sitting around in a case waiting to be bought.
What services do you provide?
My specialty is custom wedding and groom’s cakes done in today‘s modern designs with fondant or ultra smooth buttercream.  Designs range from simple, clean cut lines to intricate 3D carvings.  Other items are offered such as cheesecake, decorated sugar cookies, butter/cream cheese mints, and other dessert items.
When did you start your business?
My business opened in 2005 after years of training and taking specialty courses with some of the best know masters in the cake decorating world.  Courses range from gumpaste flowers to sculpting for groom’s cakes or other parties.
What do you feel separates you from competitors?
I provide high-end specialty cakes and don’t shy away from a customer’s request for the latest style of cake.  Also, I have quiet an extensive list of flavors for cakes, fillings, and icings to make almost limitless combination possibilities.  The years I spent collecting and perfecting recipes is evident in every delectable bite.
On average, how many events do you do per year?
I usually do about 70 per year.  Since I do every cake myself, I limit the number of cakes I will take each weekend.  Quality is much more important than quantity to me.  This also assures my customers of the quality of the cake they will receive knowing their order won’t be passed off to whichever decorator happens to be working that day.
Since space for orders for wedding/specialty cakes are limited, reservations need to be placed sooner than many people may realize.  I recommend you reserve your wedding cake 6-8 months in advance.  That means start interviewing for you cake 8-10 months ahead, at least.  Too many couples follow some magazine guidelines of booking your cake 3 months ahead.  That advice works for supermarket cakes, but by then most specialty decorators are already full for the popular summer and fall dates.  It breaks my heart to turn away a couple because a date is already full when they thought they were following the correct guidelines.  The early bird truly gets the worm.
How can potential clients go about contacting you?
The best way to reach me is through the website, www.SweetArtWeddingCakes.com .  After viewing pictures of the many cakes, seeing our flavors, and other helpful info, my e-mail address is on the bottom of every page.

Brides Say it Best!

Just received an awesome email today, thought I’d share!  This is why we love what we do! 🙂  Props to Holly Troxel Photography for the cute images below!

“[The DJ] did an amazing job! I had a couple of friends who used your company for their weddings, and it shows!  Very professional and did everything we needed and asked of him.  I couldn’t have asked for a better DJ and it couldn’t have went more smooth.  I just wish there was more music to be played, the nights end came way too quick! 🙂  Thanks again for everything, we will definitely be recommending you to our friends that have weddings coming up next year!”

Mark + Heather, Same Day Edit, 7.16.11 (Part 2)

We showed you Mark + Heather’s Love Story last week (if you missed it, you MUST go back and watch it!) and here is part two of their amazing day. They were married in Council Bluffs with a gorgeous reception at Mid America Center. Dustin with Creating Atmosphere never ceases to amaze us with how he can transform any space. The talented My Image Society took all the photos and you can see a few of them below.

This was another Same Day Edit that we surprised her guests with, following her Love Story. We always love to see everyone’s reactions, watching footage from the actual day! 🙂
